(Bernama pic)PORT DICKSON: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said he has yet to receive a full post-mortem report on the April 13 Rantau state by-election, which will include allegations of sabotage by members of the party
Anwar said the report would be submitted by PH’s director for the by-election, Aminuddin Harun, who is also the Negeri Sembilan menteri besar, and handed over to the coalition’s leadership
“So far, there has only been a preliminary report,” he told reporters after officiating the Bagan Pinang state-level Earth Day celebration, jointly celebrated with the Port Dickson Agricultural Office Day event, today
On April 13, Aminuddin, who is chairman of both the Negeri Sembilan PH and PKR, was quoted as saying that a probe would be conducted on whether elements of sabotage caused PH’s defeat in the by-election
In the by-election, former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan, who is also Umno acting president, won the Rantau seat for the fourth term
He defeated PH’s Dr S Streram and two independent candidates, housewife Malar Rajaram and former lecturer Mohd Nor Yassin
Mohamad won with a majority of 4,510 votes
In another development, Anwar, who is also the Port Dickson MP, said besides the focus on tourism, agriculture and fisheries will also be encouraged in his constituency
He said he saw Port Dickson as an agricultural hub for the production of coconuts, which is in demand locally and overseas
“The people here can get coconut seedlings from the Department of Agriculture. This will give them additional income,” he said
Anwar said vegetables and bananas were also among agricultural products that could increase their income
“In addition, we will expand the fishery project in Sungai Linggi, which will bring more income to fishermen, farmers and villagers,” he said
Earlier, he launched the I-Run Port Dickson run at Telok Kemang Square. About 500 people took part. - FMT
