(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: The amendments to the regulations on the use of subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders still need legal clarity, including on the categorisation of food and beverage (F&B) businesses, says domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali
In a Facebook post today, he said the matters that require consideration include the amendments’ parameters for business ownership, business requirements, control and reporting mechanisms, monitoring and enforcement efficacy and strategies to prevent leakage.
Armizan said several recommendations on these matters were raised at an engagement session today which was attended by 10 associations.
“I have asked all the associations to get the views of their members and present a memorandum of suggestions to the technical committee on the amendment review,” he said.
On June 5, Armizan said the Cabinet had agreed to review the regulations governing the use of subsidised LPG cylinders by traders.
He said the amendments would focus on the needs of micro and small-sized F&B traders and ensure clarity regarding the regulation.
The Control of Supplies Regulations (Amendment) 2021, or PPKB (Amendment) 2021, currently states that any business using over 42kg of LPG at any one time must apply for a scheduled controlled goods permit. - FMT
