After Mat Hasan Now Streram Faces Multi Million Home Claim
RANTAU POLLS | Following the brouhaha involving accusations that BN candidate Mohamad Hasan owns a RM6 million bungalow, the table has been turned on Pakatan Harapan, with a claim that its candidate owns a RM7.8 million bungalow in Klang
Dr S Streram has denied the claim, which stemmed from a post currently circulating online stating that he owns the property which comes with a swimming pool
“I do not own a home with a swimming pool. What has been going viral on Whatsapp and Facebook is false news
“I am a regular person. I was not MB (menteri besar) for 15 years. I work and bought a house and reside in it with my family
“The (RM7.8 million) house has nothing to do with me,” the Rembau PKR deputy president said to reporters after receiving PKR membership forms from over 30 Rantau residents today
He did not dismiss the possibility that the issue was intentionally raised in relation to him asking Mohamad, who is also known as Mat Hasan, to respond to allegations the latter owns a luxury home, dubbed the ‘Minangkabau House’, in Seremban
“Yesterday, I raised the issue of the (Minangkabau) house for Mat Hasan to explain. But I did not accuse him. I only called on him to explain
“But now, people are accusing me in return. What a shame, it is the wrong house.”He added that he did not know who owns the house
“I do not know (whose house that is). I only know that it is not my house. If anyone wants to gift me such a home, maybe I’ll accept it," he quipped
However, the candidate in the upcoming Rantau parliamentary polls stated that he would be lodging a police report against the owner of the Facebook account which posted the issue and caused it to go viral
‘Check if it’s my house’The owner of the Facebook account is Anina Saadudin, a founding member of Bersatu who has since left the party
“Streram’s home in Klang. How can a doctor buy a RM7.8 million home? With whose money? Complete with a swimming pool,” she posted on the social media platform
The issue of luxury home ownership began after Mohamad's RM10 million London apartment purchase issue in 2008 was dredged up during the campaign trail by Negeri Sembilan state assembly speaker Zulkefly Mohamad Omar
Mohamad, who had been previously probed over the transfer made through a money changer, has denied any wrongdoing
The Attorney-General's Chambers under the BN government did not take any action against Mohamad, saying the RM10 million sum was not a product of corruption
This was followed by claims on social media that the Umno acting president and former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar owned the luxury mansion in Seremban 2, designed with a Minangkabau-style roof and estimated to be worth RM6 million
Speaking to reporters separately, Mohamad refused to verify if the house indeed belonged to him
“Check if it's my house. If not, then it is not mine. I am too lazy (to explain), kids’ tales, just like playing house,” he told reporters when campaigning in Sendayan today. - Mini
