Its state director Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin said the ministry became aware of the issue following a Facebook post last Friday, which highlighted complaints about the restaurant's 'exorbitant' pricing.
"The Facebook post claimed the restaurant charged excessive prices for its mutton curry.
"During an inspection at 11am yesterday, we found that the premises, operated by a local in their 40s, displayed a menu with price tags visible to customers," he said in a statement today.
The restaurant was issued a written notice under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, as it was found that, during the time of the viral complaint, price tags were not displayed on all dishes offered.
"The restaurant owner has been given six working days to provide details of the cost and selling prices of the dishes," he said.
Nizam also warned traders against arbitrarily setting unreasonable prices, urging customers to check prices before making purchases.
"The Consumer Protection Act 1999 protects consumers' right to obtain information about goods and food items before placing orders," he added.
The controversy arose after a Facebook user claimed the restaurant charged RM150 for a meal for three, including RM19 for each small piece of mutton.
The post drew widespread criticism from other Facebook users, with many sharing similar experiences at the same restaurant. - NST
