15 Houses On Ampang Hill Deemed Unsafe Residents To Evacuate Exco
Fifteen houses on the hill of Taman Bukit Permai 2 in Ampang have been deemed inhabitable and residents there would need to evacuate after their homes were affected by a landslide last year.
Selangor executive councillor for infrastructure and public amenities, agriculture, modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim who visited the site today, cited a technical report by the Public Works Department which stated that the houses were no longer structurally safe.
“Based on the report, the place (at the top of the slope) is not safe to be habited due to previous damage on the structure.
“This area has 15 houses. Based on what I saw earlier, there were big cracks in the land that made it unsafe,” he said.
The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council will issue a formal notice to the residents involved, he added, although no time frame was given on when the evacuation will take place.
Pandan Indah assemblyperson Izham Hashim (second left) visiting the Taman Bukit Permai 2 site in AmpangAsked if the residents of the 15 houses would be relocated, he said further discussions would need to take place, adding that an exco meeting this Wednesday will discuss options that can be presented to the residents.
However, Izham stressed that the slope at Taman Bukit Permai 2 is now in stable condition, after several landslides and earth movements occurred in the area over the past year, with the last incident in December 2022.
The Pandan Indah assemblyperson said there have been six incidents of landslides and soil erosion at the slop since a major landslide on March 10 last year.
The incident claimed four lives and injured one, besides affecting 15 houses and 10 vehicles.
According to a notice at the site, repair works on the slope began on Aug 15 last year.
Izham said that the works are expected to end in March. - Mkini
