12 Year Old Girl Abused Locked In Dog Cage By Parents In Grandma S Care
A 12-year-old girl, subjected to alleged abuse at the hands of her own parents, including being confined in a dog cage, has now been rescued and placed under the protective care of her grandmother.
ADSAccording to the New Straits Times, Penang authorities located the grandmother following media reports, and she has been appointed the girl’s temporary guardian.
State social development, welfare and non-Islamic affairs exco Lim Siew Khim said authorities are looking for the girl’s other family members as well.
“The girl’s parents remain in remand, and her 15-year-old sibling is currently being cared for by their grandmother. The arrangement will be assessed by the Social Welfare Department,” she said.
“We are still trying to locate other relatives who can care for them,” she added.
It was previously reported that the girl had suffered injuries as a result of alleged abuse. Additionally, it was claimed that two years ago, when she was 10, she had been confined inside a dog cage.
The father’s remand, initially set for four days, has been extended until May 29, while the mother’s remand period concludes today.

The girl is receiving medical treatment at Penang Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which addresses child abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exposure that could cause physical or emotional harm.
The accused faces a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment for up to 20 years, or both. - Mkini
