The Sungai Penchala interchange of the new 20km Damansara-Shah Alam elevated highway which will be opened soon.PETALING JAYA: The journey from Taman Tun Dr Ismail to Subang airport will take only ten minutes when the newly built Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) is opened, highway operator Prolintas said today.
Prolintas group CEO Azlan Abdullah said the expressway will reduce commuting time from Puncak Perdana to Penchala to 30 minutes from 90 minutes.
He said the 20km highway, which will be opened soon, will reduce traffic congestion in the Klang Valley by becoming “the next best alternative” to the Northern Klang Valley Expressway.
The highway would serve as a link between the western and eastern parts of the Klang Valley and provide access to people living in new townships such as Denai Alam and Kwasa Damansara.

It would also provide an alternative route to Persiaran Surian in Kota Damansara, Subang airport, Damansara Perdana, Damansara, Penchala and the route towards Kuala Lumpur.
DASH is expected to reduce traffic congestion along Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari by 39%, Jalan Sungai Buloh by 33% and Persiaran Surian by 43%.
The expected average daily traffic was 50,000 vehicles, said Azlan.
He said DASH also has a fully enclosed 260m-long highway noise barrier along Damansara Perdana, the first such barrier in Malaysia.
The expressway will have three toll plazas: at Denai Alam, RRIM (Kwasa Damansara) and Kota Damansara. Azlan said the toll rates would be announced soon.
Construction on the project costing RM4.2 billion started in August 2016 and was completed last month, on Sept 30.
The highway was built on a 55-year concession period from 2014 to 2069. - FMT
