Pkr Nominations Close Rafizi Izzah In Straight Fight For Deputy Presidency
The PKR election nomination process, which has closed at the stroke of midnight, sees the incumbent deputy president Rafizi Ramli being challenged by Nurul Izzah Anwar for the post.
ADSThis comes after Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail decided not to contest any position in the party election, despite previously being speculated as a contender for the deputy presidency.
So far, Nurul Izzah has received the most public endorsements from various levels and states.
Among her supporters are Anwar Ibrahim’s close ally Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim.

Previously, Rafizi claimed that PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and other central party leaders, including Saifuddin, have encouraged him to defend his position as deputy president.
Meanwhile, Anwar retained the presidency uncontested for a third term, which will also be his last term in accordance with the term limit stipulated in the party constitution.
It is believed that Nurul Izzah’s nomination for deputy president is aimed at positioning her to succeed her father in the next term.
12 vie for PKR vice-presidency
According to the party’s nomination website, 12 leaders are contesting for four vice-president posts, while 81 nominations have been submitted for the Central Leadership Council.
The candidates for vice-president include Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Science and Technology Minister Chang Lih Kang, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister R Ramanan.
PKR deputy secretary-general Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan, Segamat MP R Yuneswaran, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, Senator Abun Sui Anyit, former Selangor state executive councillor Hee Loy Sian, former PKR Perak chairperson Mustaffa Kamil Ayub, and Jempol PKR division chief Manivanan Gowin.
As for the 81 nominees for central leadership council member positions, among the prominent figures in the running include Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Deputy Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Akmal Nasir, the prime minister’s political secretary Chan Ming Kai, and former education minister Maszlee Malik.
ADSKamil Munim wins youth chief post uncontested
The incumbent PKR Youth deputy chief Kamil Munim is the sole candidate for the youth chief post after incumbent chief Adam Adli decided to contest for a central leadership council seat.
For the deputy youth chief position, Kota Damansara assemblyperson Izuan Ahmad Kasim will face Chang’s press secretary, Arshad Hassni, in a one-on-one race.

Kamil MunimAs for the women’s wing, incumbent chief Fadhlina Sidek will be challenged by Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail.
This will be their second contest for the women’s chief post, after Fadhlina won the 2022–2025 term by a narrow margin of 34 votes, securing 18,923 votes.
The nominations for the 2025 PKR party election for the central leadership council, youth wing, and women’s wing were held online over two days since Thursday.
The central-level voting and PKR National Congress 2024/2025 opening ceremony will be held on May 23, followed by the National Congress proper on May 24. - Mkini
