Dislodged Tyre Missing But Puspakom Submits Crash Report To Miros
Puspakom’s Mahmood Razak Bahman said the inspection and investigation into the crash near Ayer Keroh that killed seven people are incomplete.
SHAH ALAM: Puspakom has submitted its findings on a recent deadly crash in Melaka to the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) for further action.
However, the inspection remains incomplete as the dislodged lorry tyre central to the investigation could not be located.
Puspakom’s CEO, Mahmood Razak Bahman, said the report only covered the inspection of the vehicles involved.
“The inspection and investigation that we conducted for Miros are incomplete even though the report was sent to the authorities today,” he said at a press conference at Puspakom Shah Alam today.
“This is because we could not find the tyre that was dislodged. Puspakom was unable to inspect the (condition of the) tyre, which should have been sent with the vehicles.”
On Dec 24, transport minister Loke Siew Fook ordered the road transport department (JPJ) to investigate the five-vehicle crash that claimed seven lives and injured 33 people on Dec 23.
Loke also directed JPJ to take appropriate action against the trailer lorry and bus involved in the collision on the North-South Expressway near Ayer Keroh.
It was reported that a detached tyre from a lorry caused the tour bus to lose control, swerve into the opposite lane and collide with the trailer lorry, resulting in the fatal accident.
The seven fatalities comprised three men, three women and a baby girl. - FMT
