Johor Declares April 28 As Holiday To Celebrate Jdt S Achievement
JOHOR BARU: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has announced that Monday (April 28) will be a state public holiday to celebrate the achievement of the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (April 24) night, he congratulated the Southern Tigers for successfully advancing to the Malaysia Cup Final where they would play against Sri Pahang on Saturday (April 26) at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
“In accordance with the decree from Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the state government has decided to declare this Monday as a special public holiday for the people of Johor,” he said.
Onn Hafiz also extended his gratitude to Tunku Ismail for his leadership in elevating JDT’s status.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Tunku Ismail for his vision, planning, and extraordinary efforts in turning JDT into a prestigious football club—not only in Malaysia, but respected throughout Asia,” he added.
With JDT having clinched the Malaysia Cup four times in recent years (2017, 2019, 2022, 2023), Onn Hafiz called on fans to rally behind the team as they pursue their fifth title.
“Come on, Southern Tigers supporters—let’s flood the Bukit Jalil National Stadium to show our full support and become the 12th player for this crucial match. May victory be with JDT,” he said
He also invited JDT fans to a celebration event at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium here on Sunday (April 27) at 8pm, calling it a grand celebration following the club’s 11 straight Malaysian Super League title wins.
